The Power of Words in the Marketplace
How a Simple Copywriting Shift Turned Old Listings into $5,000 Cash

In January 2025, I attended a weekend retreat mastermind for advanced copywriting. Let me tell you—it was the most incredible, powerful experience. As someone who isn't a big social butterfly, I was surprised by how easy it was to connect with the people there. The weekend was packed with golden nuggets of knowledge that I knew would help me grow as a copywriter. When I got back home, I had one clear goal: to be more intentional with my words.
Fast forward a few weeks into February—I signed up for an additional copywriting course focused on creating and honing a sense of urgency in sales copy. Between the mastermind retreat and this new course, I decided to run a little experiment.
I had a few items listed on Facebook Marketplace, but two, in particular, stood out:
A truck that had been sitting unsold since October 2024.
A vintage John Deere pedal tractor that I knew had potential but needed the right words to command a higher price.
I tweaked the verbiage on both listings, applying the principles I had just learned. The results? I made $5,000 cash that week. Cash in my wallet, cash. It was a great feeling, but it still shocked me.
The truck that had been stagnant for months—gone. The pedal tractor? Sold at a premium price.
That experience reinforced something I already knew deep down: the way we present our offers matters. The right words can turn a “maybe” into a “yes.” They can create desire, urgency, and action.
If you're in business—whether you're selling products, services, or even just trying to grab attention online—copywriting isn’t just a skill. It’s a game-changer.
