Spring <br>, My Sidekick, and why I built this life
Last week looked a wee bit different around here. Spring break meant my usual “office setup” came with a sidekick… and honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

For a few days, my son got a real, behind-the-scenes look at what my work actually looks like. Not the “mom’s on her computer” version; but the real thing. Client calls. Problem solving. Building. Creating.
And somewhere between the laptops, Zoom calls, and sticker-covered screens… something really special happened.
He didn’t just watch.
He participated.
He even hopped on a Zoom call with one of my Authority Sprint clients—and, as expected, completely stole the show. Naturally. Effortlessly. Just being himself.
Shoutout to you, Ryan, for being so kind and welcoming in that moment. That meant more than you probably realize.
The part that hit me
There was a moment I caught myself just… taking it all in. (and no no, I didn't cry)
A small group of clients.
Good people.
Doing meaningful work.
Everyone genuinely excited about what we’re building together.
And my kid sitting right next to me, getting to see it happen in real time.
That’s when it hit.
This is exactly why I built my business this way.
Not to be slammed with clients.
Not to chase chaos.
But to create something intentional.
A small bucket of people I actually enjoy working with.
Work that feels good.
And a life that lets me be present for the moments that matter.
Summer is looking like it'll be a little different as well...
We’ve already made it official.
He’s my intern this summer.
Not in the “go grab me coffee” kind of way—but in the build something real kind of way.
He’ll be helping on the backend:
Helping set things up for clients
Learning how to problem solve
Working through challenges (instead of avoiding them)
Building skills in math, communication, and critical thinking
Because here’s the thing…
Building is one of the most underrated forms of therapy.
You take something that doesn’t exist, and piece by piece, you make it real.
There’s confidence in that.
There’s pride in that.
And yes, there’s even opportunity in that too.
But you know what the kid has that we as adults don't?
They see the world from a much different lens than we do.
And for that, I can admit that the kid has some good ideas that we do end up implementing.
You know what that also does in return for the kiddo though? Gives them confidence.
Always look at the bigger pic
This week wasn’t just “spring break.”
It was a reminder.
That the life we’re building matters just as much as the business.
That success doesn’t have to mean more noise, more pressure, or more people.
Sometimes it looks like:
A quiet table
Two laptops
A kid with big ideas, a whole lot of questions
And work that actually feels good to do
And if I’m being honest…
That’s the kind of success I’ll choose every time.
