Make More Money with the Right Words

But seriously, ever feel like you're yelling into the void when trying to sell something? You list your product, post about your business, and… crickets. Turns out, it’s probably not what you’re selling—it’s how you’re talking about it.

Good news? You don’t need to be a fancy marketer to fix this. Really, you don't. Just tweak a few words, and suddenly, people actually want what you’re offering. Let’s break it down, Midwest-style.

1. Sell the Benefit, Not the Thing

Folks don’t care about the thing—they care about what it does for them.

🚫 Wrong: “Handmade soy candle.” <--ew, just ew
✅ Right: “Smells like fresh-baked cookies without the effort. Also hides the fact you haven’t cleaned in a week.”

🚫 Wrong: “We do home repairs.”
✅ Right: “We fix it before your in-laws show up and judge you.”

2. Light a Fire Under ‘Em (Create Urgency)

People procrastinate. Give ‘em a reason to act now. (I'm also a hypocrite for writing this part, we all procrastinate in some manner.)

🔹 “Only 3 left—unless you like paying full price later.”
🔹 “Book now before I realize I underpriced this.”
🔹 “This deal disappears at midnight. Just like my patience.”

3. Show Proof (Because People Trust Other People)

Nobody wants to be the guinea pig. Show ‘em others love it. This is more geared towards businesses trying to gain more customers or following.

✅ “Over 500 happy customers—and at least 3 of them are my mom.”
✅ “Jane said: ‘Best candle ever.’ And I didn’t even have to bribe her.”
✅ “Rated 5 stars, mostly by strangers.”

4. Make It Stupid-Easy to Buy

If people have to think too hard, they’ll just go eat a snack instead.

🚫 Wrong: “Contact us for more information.”
✅ Right: “Tap ‘Buy Now’ and it’ll be on your doorstep faster than you can say ‘Where’s my wallet?’”

Bottom Line? Words = Money

Doesn’t matter if you’re selling tractors, candles, or dog-sitting services—the right words will get you paid. Start tweaking your copy and watch what happens.
